Setting up goals

Do not wait, the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

Key words:

  • Performance goals
  • Process goals
  • Long-term goals

Regardless of who you are, an athlete, a business person, or just somebody looking for quality in life. Have you ever thought about which area of your life you’re not happy about? It could be your career, your social life, your appearance, your relationships or maybe your skills.  Probably you wished you could do something about it, or maybe you thought that disbalance is okay, that you can’t be perfect in all the aspects of your life and then you’d just slide back to your comfort zona and do nothing about it, continuing to complain that life isn’t fair and that you don’t have the resources to succeed. However, being resourceful is more important than having resources. Therefore, with clear, achievable goals and action plans, perseverance, attitude, belief and desire, anything is in your reach.

Why are goals important?

Goals are the fuel to our life, they’re the first step of every challenge, experience or journey we take. Therefore, goals give us purpose, focus, direction, motivation, grit, and drive. Moreover, they help us overcome procrastination, set up our priorities and focus on what’s important.

You probably heard countless times that you must write down your goals, you must stick to them, but how?. It’s not enough only to complete a New Years’ resolution and forget about it in a few weeks. It’s neither sufficient only to read your goals once in three months and just realize that you didn’t follow any of those in the past weeks. Therefore, it’s effective to have both accurate goals and an action plan in order to achieve your desired outcome.

Types of goals

Before starting on setting goals, you need to understand the three types:

  • Long-term goals: Relating to the big picture of where you’re willing to get in a couple of years.
  • Performance goals: They could be fit in several sections, mainly dealing with competitions or other challenges met along the journey.  It could be applying the acquired skills in the game, improving mental and emotional strength or control (managing emotions), or about implementing methods to handle pressure. Likewise, they’re often called short-term goals and are set for one or three months
  • Process goals: Daily tasks which connect to your long-term and performance goals. These should be extremely specific because they will help you create your action plan. For instance, striving to master a skill or technique, improving areas of physical skills, implementing good habits or rituals into your daily routines, improving the ability to assess and adjust, etc.

Purpose

But more important than goals are your values. Why do you want to achieve this? Is it for yourself, your family, maybe your community? You need a decent cause for your goals which will push you forward whenever you’ll feel tired and hopeless.

  20. With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My site has a lot of exclusive content
I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it looks
like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without
my permission. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being ripped off?
